Belva Weathersby Named NEW DIRECTOR OF COLLABORATION OFFICE
Please welcome Belva K. Weathersby to her new role as the director of the Tennessee Head Start State Collaboration Office, effective Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
Belva is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. She is married to Dr. Kenneth Weathersby (27 years strong) and they are the parents of two recent college graduates, Kenyeta DeVanna and Breon Kentrell Weathersby. She has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Hampton University and a Master of Social Work Degree in Planning and Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She brings over 30 years of management experience, of which 10 years have been with the Head Start Program. She has served as the Administrative Director (Head Start Director) for Early Education and Care with Easter Seals North Georgia in Atlanta, providing oversight of the Head Start and Early Head Start Program, Pre K Program, and Foster Grandparents Program. She has served, in leadership, as President of the Georgia Head Start Association and as a member of the Region IV Head Start Association advocating for early education across the state of Georgia and promoting quality improvement across programs. She has served on numerous committees, as the voice of Head Start, including the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) advisory groups and task forces, State of Georgia Children’s Cabinet, and Statewide Oral Health Coalition. She most recently comes from the role of Assistant Director in the Ryan White Program, within the Tennessee Department of Health, and previously from the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as a Staff Development Coordinator.
